Christmas Plans

Hi folks,

Just a quick post on a friend’s laptop to let you all know that we are safe and well in our new house on West Kola Ridge.

Getting the internet on here can be a task of epic proportions, so it might be a while before we get things up and running with e-mails and so on. We do have the phone on – the grandparents know the number – and everything else is fine (except that the power fails quite often and so does the water, but that is normal here). The pool is great, we use it every day.

We are spending Xmas day in the upstairs bit of our house, the abode of Andy Williams (another lawyer, whose laptop this is), who has also invited a couple of other folks around. The menu looks like:

Chicken roasted in banana leaves
Mud creab and mango salad
Coral trout fillets with lime
Crayfish on its own merits

As for the drinks, it will be Solbrew, followed by Solbrew and then perhaps a few Solbrews. Did I mention they make a beer here called Solbrew? You can’t get much else for a decent price. A bottle of ‘Butterfly Ridge’ el distustingo costs about 15 Oz dollars. I say NO. Thank for sending us a decent drop, Paul and Anna.

The day will also feature swimming and laziness. We’re not going anywhere, as Christmas day in Honiara is apparently a bit edgy.

Anyway, Louise has to work on the Thursday and Friday, and then we are going away to a resort called Lola’s (also called Zipalo Habu) in Western Province. We leave next Saturday and come back on the following Wednesday. You can imagine us snorkelling in coral lagoons, and so on. Should be fun. The kids wil enjoy mucking about on a proper sand beach, too.

Merry Christmas to all reading this, and we hope the new year finds you well.

Love,

Steve.

    hi guys

happy xmas. have fun eating your yummy xmas lunch and snorkelling at your resort. we are having overcooked turkey (olivia will have mashed banana) with julian’s extended family and then going to nowra – no coral reefs there I can tell you.

    love k

  2. Dear Mckleinzies,
We missed you guys sorely today – the Mckenzie parents asked for our kids to be substitute grandkids, but Allegra slept most of the afternoon and Oliver was a cat most of the day and essentially refused to talk except when he was asking for chocolate (at our insistence), which he of course ate way too much of and soon discombobulated to the point that even being a cat required too much concentration. So they didn’t behave at all in a Cody and Erin fashion!
We’re glad to hear that things seem to be working out well for you. Cody’s coralspiel loooks almost as sophisticated as Stephen’s tea chest bass! The instrument designing genes are clearly Y-linked ( a medical reference which I’m sure Louise, and only louise will understand!)
Hope your holiday’s fun, and lots of love to the kids, TPOA

  3. Thanks guys!

Merry Xmas to you as well. Have a fine new year too.

We just celebrated Cody’s birthday. He requested chicken with ginger and soy and we were happy to oblige. He’s had a good day but didn’t like the beach much, which is a shame as me and Lou adored it, and snorkeled over one of the WW2 wrecks. Amazing.

    Love

    Steve.

    Dear McKleinigs

We had chicken and ginger and soy for Cody’s birthday too – quite by accident – we had it on 27 December and we didn’t know you were having it – and we didn’t know you were celebrating his birthday on that day either.

Love to all. Have a great time snorkelling

By the way, it was lovely to have Oliver and Allegra there and we enjoyed their presence very much

    Hi guys,

just a quick note to wish you a great New Year’s and all the best for 2007!

Enjoy snorkelling the coral reefs. Sounds sooo good right now sitting here under that very grey Northern European sky. Also had the first snow recently!

We’ll be out sampling some of Berlin’s New Year’s parties dancing the night away.

    Love to all.

    Jess (and Brucie by default)
