13th December 2007, end of the trouble. Sogavare Government has lost the vote. Moti is to be deported. It’s all over. Everyone is breathing easy. We meet Julie Webb on the deck of the IBS for drinks and to watch the sunset. The luxury boat that’s been in the harbour for a week suddenly departs and we speculate that Moti is fleeing yet again. Later it turns out not to be the case, although who knows who was really on it. Still, we talk of it as being Moti’s escape yacht. Sunset wasn’t bad either. Turner would have had a go I reckon.

Dad died on the 23rd of January which was six months yesterday. I’m finally getting around to doing a few things I said I’d do, sending things to people that requested them at the time. I’ve given myself permission to be very slow about this.
The main one is the speech I gave. You can download it here.

Look, it’s another one of my ‘blog retraction’ posts.
I’m going to put this blog back into hiatus for the foreseeable future – I suspect until we leave Adelaide again. I’ll continue to post very occasionaly but it will be more of a family archive thing than it will be an actual regular blog, and I’ll probaby e-mail people to let you know if there’s something relevant up here. I also can’t see myself ever finding the time to blog more about other extended family members as I said I would in January. I’m too busy with work, house rennovations and other stuff. And I know that no-one will be disappointed about this no-one has been coming here, and also because Facebook is so ragey at the moment that everyone is on there.
Incidentally Louise is on Facebook in a big way and set to upload key Germany photos on there. So if you want to stay in touch with us, that’s probably the place to be.
Cheers,
Steve.

I’ve totally given up on trying to get photos up, I’ll do some when I get back.
We’re in Berlin, spent yesterday at the Pergamon museum looking at the antiquities, the day before was a shopping day at the markets and the budget was blown to hell. Today we’re going to the open air art gallery on the Wall, and tommorow it’s the musical instrument museum. I’ve been out a few times too to see bands or just get the vibe. On Wednesday we go to Bamberg via Luthersatdt Wittenburg. And home before we know it.
Happy birthday to all the Junes once again, and we’re sending some more postcards today opr those that didn’t get one yet.

On the phone to Claire K just now, it is revealed that Esther has died.
Sad that we could not be there to say goodbye, and that the difficulty of her death has fallen on John and Claire.
However this news is overshadowed by the wonderful news that Tim and Pakan’s 3rd child, a boy as yet unnamed, was born on the 11th (I think) and is doing well. Congrats to all the family.
And happy birthday to Hilary, and all the other June birthdays while we are at it. I had beer and hamburgers in Dresden for mine, and it was fine.
Love Steve.
S.
